Piscataway, N.J. (June 20, 2018) – Denholtz Associates has announced that Popcorn for the People has signed a lease for 3,958 square feet of flex space at 140 Ethel Road West in Piscataway, N.J.
Established in 2015, Popcorn for the People is a social enterprise created by the non-profit 501 C(3) Let’s Work for Good which focuses on creating meaningful and lasting employment for adults with autism and developmental disabilities. The non-profit was created out of the recognition that although one in every 68 children in the United States is diagnosed with autism, there are limited employment options available to them and the unemployment rate for autistic adults currently stands at 90 percent.
Popcorn for the People offers adults with autism and development disabilities the opportunity to combine their unique worldview and passion with one of America’s top snack foods to create unique and fun popcorn flavors for sale at street fairs, neighborhood events and other venues throughout New Jersey. The non-profit will utilize their new space at 140 Ethel Road West as a warehousing and distribution facility to ensure they can continue to fill orders for their unique line of popcorn products.
“We were excited to work with Popcorn for the People to provide them with the ideal space to help their organization grow and continue to offer gainful employment to adults with autism and other developmental disabilities,” said Christina Jordan, Director of Leasing at Denholtz Associates. “Through creating adaptable, modern spaces and delivering a superior and seamless tenant experience, we allow our many non-profit tenants to focus on their important missions and grow their invaluable organizations.”
“We cannot wait to move into our new home,” added Rachel Cheng, Chief Operating Officer of Popcorn for the People. “Denholtz Associates and Zimmel Associates have made this whole process a breeze. It is refreshing to work with companies who understand business but also have a true heart for the community. With their help, Popcorn for the People will be able to hire even more workers with developmental disabilities.”
